Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between therapy and coaching? Therapy focuses on healing, processing emotions, and resolving patterns that may be holding you back. Coaching focuses on growth, clarity, and achieving goals in your personal or professional life.
How do I know which service is right for me? If your main goal is emotional healing, self-understanding, or resolving past patterns, therapy is usually the best fit. If your main goal is clarity, goal-achievement, leadership development, or navigating transitions, coaching may be more appropriate.
Do you work with clients in person or remotely? Therapy clients: I work with therapy clients throughout California, primarily via telehealth. In-person sessions are available in the San Francisco Bay Area. Coaching clients: I work with clients worldwide.
What ages do you work with? Therapy: Adults, families, and children age 10 and up. Coaching: adults.
What can I expect in a first session? We’ll spend time getting to know each other, clarifying your goals, and exploring what approach will best support you. This session is also an opportunity to see if we feel like a good fit.
How long are sessions? Typically the standard 50 minutes for therapy and 60+ minutes for coaching
How do you handle confidentiality? All sessions are private and confidential. Therapy sessions adhere to HIPAA regulations; coaching sessions are held to professional confidentiality standards.
What are your rates and payment options? Rates and payment details are outlined on the individual Therapy and Coaching pages. I offer a sliding scale for therapy when possible.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate from me for the total expected cost of my psychotherapy services. You can ask me, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
